The Importance Of Talking To Your Inner Child Pt. 2

Talking with your inner child may be easier than you think. It is such an amazing experience to be able to see the world as your inner child does. The world becomes a lot less scary, colors become more bright and full of light and your imagination comes to life.

With some of these questions, you can get to know your inner child better.

1: As a child, I used to dream about…

2: I always wanted to be ____ when I grew up…

3: My favorite class in school was…

4: My favorite activity to do was…

5: As a child, I used to wonder about…

6: I used to love to do ____ with my childhood friends…

7: My favorite thing to play with as a child was…

8: My go-to for coloring was…

As you ask these questions, others may come up, ask them! Hold on to the conversation and what comes of it. What dreams come up to the surface? What old memory are you suddenly remembering?

Tell your inner child that you love them. That you know the world can be kinda scary as you grow up, but that you will never leave her. By reconnecting with your inner child you are honoring her and showing her that it’s safe for her to be apart of your life.

Try traveling back to your childhood. Find your favorite toy to play with as a kid and, play with it again. What was your favorite treat as a child? Mine was ice cream right before I went to bed. So, if I want to reconnect with my inner child I will eat a small cup of ice cream right before bed.

Understand your inner child. There are moments in life that may be triggers for her. She may not want to come out because of the situation that reminded her of a past event. Nurture her and show her that she can process those emotions in a safe place. She doesn’t have to hold on to those feelings of fear, disappointment or sorrow.

If you have kids of your own, try seeing the world through their eyes. And be apart of the play they have. If they play hide n seek, join them! You are never too old for some good old fashion fun to bring you back to your inner child.

Invest in yourself and find time throughout the day where you can become grounded again. I know for sure that your inner child would love to relax laid out on the grass, looking up at the sky and the leaves on the trees.

Your inner child wants to come out in a safe manner. Do activities you loved doing as a kid and she will be there right with you. You may not even realize moments when she is apart of your day.

Go out. Have some fun. Do crafts. Play hide n seek. Paint your nails. Go on a bike ride. Dance like nobody is watching.

All my love,

Talesha
