The Importance Of Healthy Eating

With a new year comes new goals and new motivation. Eating healthy has always been a major goal for me. Sometimes I accomplish my goal and other times I binge eat my favorite ice cream.

There’s a give and take to everything in life, and I believe that you can still enjoy the sweeter things in life. Everything in moderation. Over the last few months, I’ve been trying to listen to my body.

I notice that when I eat lots of dairy, I feel sluggish and sick. When I eat sugar I get similar results. I’ve been trying to switch from eating bread during dinner to salad and my body is happier in return.

However, I have a major sweet tooth so cutting out sugar is not likely for me. So if I’m craving a sugar cookie I eat 1/3 at a time. When I eat the whole thing I immediately feel sick and regret it. Eating healthy is about listening to your body and seeing what works for you. Because what works for joe-shmoe down the street might not work for you.

Approximately 1/3 of U.S adults are obese. Increasing the risk of chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes. Just because someone is at a healthy weight does not mean they are healthy.

Start by eating a wide range of food so you’re getting a balanced diet and receiving all the nutrients your body needs. Yes, that means vegetables too. If the only way you eat veggies is soaked in butter and salt then keep doing that and slowly add less butter and less ranch until you are able to eat raw.

Drink a probiotic every day. I like to drink Kombucha in the morning before I eat anything. It lines my stomach and the good bacteria helps get rid of the bad bacteria. If you haven’t had kombucha or any other type of probiotic, start off with a little bit until your stomach gets used to it and can handle having more.

Something I was told that has really helped me in being mindful of what I put in my body is, “Eat to fuel your body.”

Be kind to your body and know your limits.

All my love,

Talesha
