Have you noticed that having a schedule helps your day go by smoother? I have and that’s why I think it’s very important to talk about the importance of following a schedule. Yes, even on Sunday.
I noticed about three months ago starting to get into bad habits. I fall quickly into those habits and once I do, it’s hard for me to pull myself out. It took me realizing my weaknesses to pull myself out.
For me, work is a huge weakness. If I’m not working at least 30-40 hours a week everything around me starts falling apart. The dishes don’t get done, the laundry sits all week, even dinner doesn’t get made.
I’ve never understood how not staying busy makes me fall apart. You would think that with more time on your hands you’re able to get more done. As soon as I noticed this I knew something needed to change. I got my butt up and went job hunting. The full time job I had, and loved and cut hours due to the pandemic.
After lots of prayer I decided it was still best to keep three days a week at the job I loved and the other 2 days doing something more set. Something with hours I could rely on. Within a week I had another part time job.
The more I worked the more stuff got done around the house. Suddenly dishes were all done by night. Laundry wasn’t just washed, it was also put away. Dinner was ready when my husband got off work and the table was wiped clean. I started making my bed again and hanging all of my clothes so no piles would form.
In a short week of increased work my life was back on track.
More than just work though I follow a schedule.
My daily schedule:
Wake up at 6 or 8.
Before I open my eyes, envision my day and all the good that will come.
Get up and love on my dog.
Eat breakfast (usually something quick like cereal).
Throw on some simple makeup and do my hair in a quick ponytail.
Ask Alexa what I should wear and follow her instruction. (It makes my day more entertaining that way.)
Turn on some music and DANCE DANCE DANCE. Dancing helps lift my mood and be excited for the day to come.
Pack lunch into my bag and make an easy grab-n-go pile.
Do 5 minutes of dishes while I still want to.
Gather all of my husbands dirty clothes and put them by the washer.
Put away any clean laundry. This is truly the best feeling. Knowing everything is done.
GO TO WORK
When I get off, I usually like to stop and get a quick treat like a frosty or coke.
Let the dog out and give her more loves.
Finish dishes.
Sanitize countertops and bathroom.
Sweep, swiffer and clean up dog poop outside.
Sit on the couch and watch my favorite show. I don’t have one at the moment but 90 day fiance will do while I play on my phone.
Make dinner.
Do dishes after dinner is done so I don’t have to do them after I’ve eaten and have no desire.
Go on a bike ride.
Take a shower.
Watch a show with my love.
Bedtime cuddles are a must.
Then goodnight kisses and eyes shut.
I then do it all over again.
It may sound like a lot, but my days are way more productive now. I know exactly what to do and have a purpose in doing them. I love coming home to a clean, smell good home.
It makes me feel like an amazing wife and something I can be proud of for myself. Life isn’t always crazy busy so I do enjoy having time to just relax when I can.
Here are some pros of following a daily schedule:
Reduced anxiety and stress.
Healthy diet and exercise can easily be put in.
Healthier sleep habits.
Having a routine will help anchor us.
Do you love yoga? Map in time for yoga. When creating a schedule you are able to put in what you love again. Maybe you’ve always wanted to try painting, but never seem to have enough time. Having a schedule you can clearly mark out what YOU want and when you want to do it.
I have noticed my anxiety levels hugely lower. I am happier, healthier and love my life again. Something as simple as a daily routine really can change your life.
So what are you waiting for?
Start today and start putting yourself first in life again.
Stay safe out there.
All my love,
Talesha
