I have a wise mentor, you may have heard of him, his name is Nephi. He once said, “And the words which I have written in weakness will be made strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good.” I hope my message persuades you to do good in your world today.

What is happiness? Once you have it do you always feel it?

I believe that we are all at some point in our life are looking for “things” that make us happy. However, I am slowly learning that it isn’t so much about the “things” that make us happy but more about the MOMENTS.

I have uttered the words many times, when I do this or achieve that I’ll be happy. I have failed to find happiness in the moment.

My son is a great example of finding happiness in the moment. When he was about a year and a half years old he had a very unhappy mom. On one difficult summer day we were outside playing, he was having a great time watching the cars drive by our busy street while I was battling some heavy demons. I remember pleading with Heavenly Father to change my circumstances when my little guy plops down on the fresh cut grass and says, “Wow” while pointing up at the vibrant blue sky that was painted with clouds.

He didn’t need any “thing” to make him happy he was living in the moment as only a child can do and finding happiness in that beautiful blue sky.

My challenge for you today, this week, and the rest of your life is to look for and praise those moments that are filled with happiness.

Another great mentor of mine taught me that when we praise God for the good and the bad moments it sends a powerful energy that much like a boomerang comes back to us. When we receive this energy it brightens our demeanor and allows us to feel that happiness we are all seeking after.

Let’s all make the moments what matter and not the things. Our community need us, our friends need us and most importantly our family needs us.

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” -Oprah Winfrey
