Make Yourself A Priority Pt 1

It is so easy to get weighed down by everyday life. To the point where you push your own needs on the back-burner. By putting yourself first you will become a better person for everyone around you. Less stress means for a happier you. Here are some simple ways to start making YOU a priority.

1: Listen to your body. If your body is screaming at you to take a rest… rest! Your body knows you and knows how much you can handle. Sometimes it may mean to not do 100 things but to take it easy. Listen to that, and trust it.

2: Search inward. Stop making excuses for not meditating, going to the gym or journaling. You should make it a priority in your day to practice emotional health. You won’t regret it when you wake up feeling happy and rejuvenated ready to take on the new day.

3: Say no! If you don’t want to do it, don’t. Saying yes to everything and everyone can be very damaging. Give yourself permission to decide what you feel comfortable doing and not. If it doesn’t align, say no. Take back the power that you gave everyone else over you. Reclaim it.

4: Breathe. Seriously, take a second and relax. When you feel your heart beating out of your body, take a moment to yourself and relax. Focus on taking a long deep breath in, and a long deep breath out. This will calm your heart rate and relax you.

5: Trust your gut. You know that icky feeling you get when something doesn’t feel right to you. Yeah, trust that. That feeling is there for a reason and should be listened to. When you push aside your instincts, that’s you not making yourself a priority.

6: If you need a day out, schedule it. Having physical activity gets your blood pumping and your brain focused. Instead of being stressed out in your home, go out in the community and find a baseball league you can join. Making your health a priority is so beneficial. It helps with depression and anxiety, stress will fall off of your shoulders.

7: Don’t put yourself last. Being selfish isn’t always a bad thing. Stand up for your own personal needs and make sure they are being met. Prioritize your own happiness. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to have your life the way you want it. The way you’ve always envisioned it.

8: You are worth it. Your needs are just as valuable as everyone else’s around you. I know that you treat others the way you want to be treated and that’s an amazing quality to have. Also, know that you should be receiving that same goodness in return. Don’t surround yourself with toxic people who are trying to use you. Know your worth and fight for it.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the negativity that sucks you dry. Dedicating a little me time daily will help with all the extra stresses of life. So yes, go get your nails done, get that haircut you’ve been thinking of for years now, get that job that makes you all nervous and happy inside. You are worth it. You deserve to be made a priority in your own life.

I’ve noticed that by doing my self help daily that I’m a more patient wife and mother. My days don’t seem as long and stressful and I handle the daily struggles like a stepping stone instead of a boulder.
