Laughing Therapy

Did you know that our bodies cannot distinguish between real and fake laughter? That means every single time you laugh, endorphins, those “feel good chemicals” are released. It also improves your resistance to disease by increasing immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies. How does it work exactly?

It’s as simple as it sounds. Get laughing!

Those times late at night in your room crying watching The Bachelor.
  • Find humor in your life

When faced with a negative situation, try and find a reason to laugh about it instead. That one time you made a fool of yourself in public, but now you can look back on it and laugh. Imagine telling your best friend that story so you can laugh about it now. By doing these things you might even find yourself less stressed and more lighthearted in life.

When your kid says a swear word loud in church.
  • Fake it until you make it

If you can’t find a good reason to laugh, try thinking back to a funny moment. Remembering the memory should get you laughing in no time.

Having that 3 hour conversation with your best friend in high school on if you should talk to your crush of 2 years.
  • Laugh with friends

Go see a comedian with some of your best friends. Laughter is contagious meaning you might even laugh more. It can even be as simple as getting dinner with your friends and sharing your past stories.

  • Watch a funny movie

Do you know that one movie that always makes you giggle? Sit back, relax and enjoy the show! Even ask your friends what they recommend to have a broader selection. Whatever way you decide, TV, Streaming or rentals, enjoy your night of laughter.

I can attest how important it is to laugh as a release. I laugh at myself when I do or say something to embarrass myself. Or, laughing with my kiddos when they do or say something silly.

Today I want to challenge you to find something so funny you can’t stop laughing. Laugh until you cry. I’d love to hear your funny stories down below so we all can laugh together.
