How To Overcome Rejection

Being rejected in professional or personal life can bring on a slur of other problems. The need for love, being accepted and self-worth are huge needs for anyone. When we feel those get taken away, anxiety, depression and blaming others come as a result of it.

When started at an early age trouble can really begin. The effects of rejection attach themselves to part of our nature which requires love, acceptance, and self-worth.

Here are ways that will help you overcome the anxiety, fear, and depression caused by rejection.

1 Acknowledge your emotions.

Instead of ignoring how you are feeling and pushing it deeper inside, acknowledge your emotions. It’s okay to be embarrassed, disappointed or sad.

Be confident in your ability to push through the awkward and uncomfortable. Being rejected is no easy thing. So instead of telling your friends. “Oh, it’s not a big deal” and actually prolonging the pain, accept it for what it is and how it makes you feel.

2 Understand that it’s not always a bad thing.

When you are mentally strong you understand that rejection only means you’re living life to the fullest. Pushing boundaries and being authentic. It’s normal to be rejected at times. It’s what you do with it that will either hurt or benefit you in the long run.

If you’ve never been rejected you may be living too comfortable of a life. It’s easy to tell if you’re pushing past previous limits when you get rejected from time-to-time.

3 Be kind to yourself.

Instead of saying, “I’m so dumb why would I ever do that!” say, “I learned something new today and can’t wait to see where this takes me.” Be kind to yourself. Instead of listening to that negative self-talk, speak kind affirmations of yourself.

Continuing to beat yourself up will only keep knocking you down. Speak to yourself the way you speak to your best friend.

Rejection isn’t easy for anyone. It never feels good to know someone doesn’t trust, respect or love you. Drown out that negative self-talk with affirmations that will build you up.

All my love,

Talesha
