How A Routine Benefits You

Starting a routine can be challenging if you’ve never done one before. Especially if you haven’t had a successful morning routine. It’s all about balance and finding what benefits you instead of stresses you.

For example or a stresser for me would be yoga. Normally yoga is very calming and relaxing, however for me it is not. When I first wrote out a morning routine I thought yoga would be the perfect addition. I always here people talk about the benefits and how much they love it.

My very first day into the new routine with yoga included stressed me out! I knew after the first day that I needed to pick a different relaxation technique cause yoga had the opposite effect on me.

If your current morning routine consists of hitting snooze 5 times, that’s probably a good indicator to create a new one. Many of us feel like we need to catch up during the day. Our morning routine either sets us up for success, or makes us rush-rush-rush to catch up. And let me tell you, that’s the worst feeling to have.

Being productive in the morning sets us up for a productive rest of our day. Not only is being productive in the morning beneficial but there’s loads more benefits. Lets go over them below.

Benefits to a morning routine:

Emotional health:

When we feel good by getting up and doing, we also feel good emotionally. How often have you walked around with the flu and a smile on your face? I know I haven’t!

By constantly feeling in a rush to get to the next appointment, next meeting or to get dinner done in time we can be left feeling overwhelmed and stressed. As time continues these emotions will only build and leave us feeling like we will never be on top of everything, but rather behind trying to catch up.

A sense of accomplishment and peace knowing we already have 2 tasks crossed off our list for the day can help us become more resilient during stressful times.

Physical health:

According to a study done by Harvard, Stress can be just as damaging to our health as secondary smoking! Finding extra ways to be productive and stress free lowers our risk for heart disease and high cholesterol.

Relationships:

Our emotional and physical well-being plays a role in our relationships. When I was with someone who was negative and under a lot of pressure, our relationship was also negative and under a lot of pressure. When we are already feeling overwhelmed, then going to see your bf/gf you might be shorter tempered and hard to be around. After a long day at work nobody wants to be around negative people.

When building a morning routine that helps us be more productive, confident and positive we might find our relationships being happy and care-free.

Peace:

Waking up late, rushing to get breakfast, dressed, and out the door definitely leaves us knowing how much we didn’t have time to do before. This can take our peace away during the day because we know how much we have at home waiting for us.

Having that extra stress can get us into a lot of sticky situations with our careers, relationships and our emotional health. Having a consistent morning routine gives us the time to meditate, do yoga, affirmations and get prepared for whatever may come our way.

How do I find the perfect morning routine for me? I love this question! I help those ready for a change mentoring you and working with you to find the PERFECT routine for your needs. Not only will it benefit you physically, but also emotionally. By working on what you struggle with we can adjust your morning routine to benefit you instead of adding stress.

Everyone should follow a routine that’s best for them. But I would love to share will you all a morning routine that’s been amazing for my needs to help give you some ideas.

My morning routine:

7 am

  • wake up
  • skincare
  • affirmations
  • make bed
  • eat a healthy breakfast
  • get dressed

8 am

  • read scriptures
  • catch up on the latest news
  • meditate
  • read a book

9 am

  • do homework or study new material
  • Spend a few minutes outside getting grounded
  • go for a walk with the dog

A morning routine should benefit your needs. It’s important to not follow the same routine all your friends do. Talk to a mentor and create one for your needs.

You’ll feel productive, ready for your day, and at peace knowing you’ve gotten everything done.

Come talk to me and I’d love to help you create a morning routine that’s beneficial for your success. Instead of one that will only stress you out and you’ll stop doing in two week. The goal is to create a routine that you feel confident in and will be a lifelong decision, not a month long dread.

I have benefitted substantially from following my routine. I feel happier, more productive and less hard on myself. The first jump is always the hardest, but after two weeks it’ll become a habit. And hopefully one you’ll love.

All my love,

Talesha
