Favorite Childhood Memories Pt. 2

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again… my childhood was amazing! I was blessed with a friend who I did everything with. A family who let me live and be a kid while I could. And an imagination that would never leave me bored.

I have so many favorite memories from my childhood, but here are a few more.

Lemonade stands! Who else would spend all day doing a lemonade stand and selling a cup for 50c? Eventually, it got boring being like everybody else, so my mom gave me a brilliant idea! To sell her secret lemonade recipe.

I so wish remembered what it was, but I do remember it getting me a lot more sells! There was even one day when my older sisters friend saw me and gave us $20! It was every kids dream and made me so happy I still remember it to this day.

What did I do with all the money I earned, you ask? Well, my friend and I would ride our bikes up to the local dollar store and see what we could buy! Usually something crafty, or one of those foam animal things you put into water and they expand.

Spending a few hours on a Saturday at the shelter. I loved going to the humane society and loving on all the dogs I possibly could. I still remember the smell of all the dogs and how they cried as soon as someone walked in. Those memories largely impacted why I decided to adopt my pup–from that same exact shelter.

There was this puppy that I fell in love with. It was scared of everybody except me. I’m not sure why that is, but we were bonded. It got adopted and brought back several times, which broke my little kid heart. I couldn’t understand how somebody could make a commitment and then drop it back off like the puppy meant nothing to them.

This puppies name was Fido, he was a black lab and around 6 months old when he finally found his forever home.

Who else remembers Webkinz? Well… I was the queen of Webkinz! I used to save up all my hard-earned babysitting money just so I could buy a new one. I still have about 3 BIG boxes of Webkinz that were loved so much as a kid I knew I needed to save them for my future kids.

I loved putting them on the website and feeding them, buying them clothes and playing games! I got so good at the games on Webkinz! It still makes me sad thinking about all the old friends that are probably so sad and hungry without me. But then I remember I’m an adult and it was just a game haha.

If you didn’t love Saturday morning cartoons as I did, we probably lived at different times. I remember waking up early as putting on the cartoons in my mom’s room. I played in her bed as she got ready for the day and we would talk during the commercials.

Disney channel was the best growing up, and it has definitely taken a hit since. There’s nothing quite like Saturday morning cartoons 20 years ago!

Sunday family day! I loved, loved Sunday as a kid! It meant my whole family would be together, under one roof. It usually consisted of lots of laughter, memories and walk around the block.

Hearing everybody’s stories from the week and what they got out of church was so fun. Plus, it wasn’t Sunday family dinner if there were no head rubs. My sister and I take turns giving the other a bomb head massage, snarled hair after is a must.

I wouldn’t call myself an extrovert, but being with my family is my favorite thing. This whole quarantine has been so hard simply because I haven’t been able to see the ones I love most!

I loved my childhood so much! I feel so blessed to have the family I do that allowed me to have so many amazing experiences.

Next week I’ll be moving up a little in age. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite high school memories!

I’d love to know what some of your favorite memories are from growing up, so feel free to share them in the comment section below, or even my Dms!

Stay safe out there.

All my love,

Talesha
