Favorite Childhood Memories Pt. 1

At times our childhood feels a million years ago. Other times, it feels like yesterday we were riding our bikes and laughing at everything. As a kid you have so many things to make you happy and carefree; no debt being one of them.

My childhood was amazing. I was happy and loved spending as much time with family as I could. Going back in time and remembering old memories brought back so much joy.

My favorite childhood memories

1: Riding bikes all over with my best friend. We would spend all day on our bikes. Riding from one town to another. This was back when cellphones weren’t a thing so my mom just expected me home by 5:30.

I loved my bike, I loved it so much that even when it didn’t have brakes anymore, I still rode it. Nothing could make me get rid of it. By the time my knees were touching the handlebars and my brakes were gone too, it was finally time to move onto a big kid bike.

One of my memories riding bikes as a kid was going to far and getting in trouble. My bff and I at the time decided it was a great idea to ride our bikes all the way to another town. over 20 miles and without letting parents know. By the time we got back, my friends mom wouldn’t stop yelling at us. I was so embarrassed I left for home and we were never allowed to do that again.

2: Spending time with my grandparents. I think this is my favorite memory. I lived a couple of blocks away from both sets of grandparents, and I’m so thankful I did!

I’d spend time chatting about my day, playing games and looking at all the cool old things they had collected throughout the years. Spending time with my grandma she taught me how to sew on a sewing machine. This is a talent I’ve been so grateful to have.

I remember taking my grandma to the cemetery after my grandpa passed away. We would watch the sunset together and I just loved being in her company. Looking up at the sunset she would say, “He paints the sunsets, and this one is ugly!” She always knew how to make me laugh, and this one did for sure.

3: I loved elementary school! I had so many friends, awesome adventures and no stress. One of my favorite years was 3rd grade. I loved my teacher and she loved me in return. Even after I had left her class and up until Jr year, I still went and visited her.

She made class so much fun. I have so many memories and one of them including hiding under my desk and getting in trouble haha. But my favorite memory for sure took all year to add up to.

We had these papers like tokens that all year if we were good we earned them. It helped keep the class on track and she would remind us that we were working up for something big at the end of the year.

You best believe I saved about a million of them. By the end of the year, she had all of us bring one thing from home to trade and we would buy each others things with our dollars. Who ever bid the most for it, got it. So I waited and as each person bid on what they wanted, I knew I should wait until something really cool came up, instead of a million little things.

Soon enough, a friend took out this awesome watch. It changed color, had cool additive things on it and looked really expensive! I knew the watch wouldn’t fit me, but it looked perfect for my dad. So I spent all the money I had earned throughout the year to buy my dad an awesome watch. I was so excited that when I finally got home and showed him, he was so shocked.

To this day, he still has this watch, and it’s still my favorite memory in 3rd grade!

I had so much fun thinking of my childhood and all the memories of my growing up. I challenge all of you to do the same. Take some time to remember good memories and experiences you had growing up.

Life is amazing and there is so much to be thankful for!

All my love,

Talesha
