I’m sure if you are over the age of 17 you know by now that life is pretty complicated. Juggling work duties, keeping up to date on friends, dishes, laundry, cooking, homework and getting enough sleep life seems can be overwhelming.
If you are sitting here agreeing and wondering how you can catch a break, then you are in luck! Life doesn’t always have to be complicated and stressful, in fact, it’s supposed to be fun and challenging you enough that you grow into a healthier, happier person.
One of my favorite quotes is, “Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.” -Unknown
Tip 1: Drink enough water! When you are dehydrated you are sluggish, grumpy and can have a foggy brain. It’s not worth it. An easy way to remember to get your fluids in is by carrying a water bottle. So yes, I’ll say it, go ahead and buy a cute bottle that’ll get you motivated to drink way more water than you are probably used to.
Tip 2: Set monthly goals. Think of goals that are easier to accomplish not ones that will take years. Focus on the little things. Set 1-3 goals and you’ll be surprised at how easy making a new habit is.
For me, I started with…
Goal 1. Make my bed daily
Goal 2. Do dishes every night before bed
Goal 3. Pray morning and night
Tip 3: Declutter your purse. Its always been surprising to me at how fast life becomes out of control. Cleaning out my purse seems to re-set my life. Once you organize something small, then try moving onto your bedroom closet. Organize those shoes that don’t seem to fit well. Label some buckets with seasonal clothing. No need to hang summer clothes during the winter months.
Tip 4: Follow a morning routine. Think of healthy habits you can bring into your already hectic morning routine. By waking up ten minutes earlier you can have some time to actually sit down and eat your breakfast while you read your favorite book. Or maybe add in to sweep the floors before you leave. Something simple to help you get ahead in life instead of running around like a mad man.
Tip 5: Buy a crockpot! I cannot stress this enough. It’s so nice coming home from work and dinner is ready to go. Quickly throw veggies, potatoes, and chicken in the crockpot set it on low and when you get home, dinner is served! This will save you time to spend with your kids, or finally finish that laundry that’s been piling up all week.
Tip 6: Unsubscribe from junk emails. Yes, shocking I know, but those thousands of emails in your inbox right now need to go. They clog your life and serve no purpose. Spend an hour a day for a week unsubscribing and notice how quickly you become organized.
Tip 7: Keep healthy snacks on your desk. During the day you may find yourself snacking on junk food. I know I love fruit snacks, pop, rice Krispie treats, and many more sugar-loaded foods. I notice how tired I am after. Throw out those processed foods and replace them with fruit, water with lemon, nuts (my favorite are pumpkin seeds) and peanut butter.
When life is ran smoothly we all have more time for our families, serving others and taking much needed “me time.” It’s worth the waking up ten minutes early, light cleaning daily and keeping your purse organized. Stay motivated, dedicated to a less stressful life and happy! We all deserve to be happy and I know these simple tasks will make that smile a little brighter.
All my love,
Talesha
