Creating A Healthy Home

Living in a healthy space is key for our emotional and physical well-being. There are many ways to create a healthy home, and I’ll show you a few of my favorite!

Keep in mind that there are always different things you can do, and that is entirely up to you. Things that I love and resonate with, might be different for you. So at the end of the day make sure these are changes that you find beneficial.

Water is huge for me and my health! As for every other human on earth. When it comes to water I love having a water filter I can keep in my fridge. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, but I recommend buying one that will at least last 6 months to a year.

With a water filter it’s important to buy filters when needed. The same filter won’t last forever. You can also buy a water filter for your shower! It looks just like a normal shower head, but filters out all the hard water. This isn’t anything I’ve tried yet, but would love to in the future!

One of my favorite things about a house is how many windows there are. During the day every single one of my blinds is open. I love letting in as much natural light as possible!

Natural light helps me not have migraines. It also helps you stay awake throughout your day. While you’re at it, open the windows and let the outside air fill your space! Natural air and light help our space feel more homey.

Read ingredient labels! You truly never know what you are putting in your body until you see what inside of what you use/eat. Avoid anything with fragrance as this is a huge irritator for our skin and not healthy on our body.

As for what goes inside your body. Avoid anything with dyes used to enhance color. Red dye especially is not good for us! It’s not worth it to eat things that we can’t pronounce. If it’s a huge long word you’ve never heard before, it’s probably bad for you!

Choose natural chemicals! The chemicals we use daily to clean our houses can be actually causing more harm than good. I love to use any cleaners that A smell good, and B get the job done.

There isn’t only one good natural cleaning brand. Do your research and I’m sure you’ll find one you love just as much as products with bleach. It makes me feel better knowing my family and dog won’t get sick and neither will I.

Buy more plants! By having plants share a space with us, our stress and anxiety go way down. I have a little plant on my kitchen table and I love the warmth it brings my space! The great thing is, you don’t have to have a green thumb to have plants!

I’ve always had a hard time keeping plants alive because I either forget to water them, or water them too much! There are so many plants that are low maintenance that will last forever!

Be cautious of mold! Mold can have several negative effects on us that we don’t realize are symptoms! I used to rent a house that had mold and not only is it gross, but can make you sick.

Even if you can’t see mold, anything that smells musty is mold. And it can make you sick! Living in a space with mold is not worth the risk it can have on your health.

Be aware of any allergies you may have. If you notice any reaction to food, or not you are either allergic or very sensitive to it. My husband is allergic to a lot! So we try to avoid keeping those products in our home.

This can be anything from bedding to food ingredients. Instead buy things with a hypoallergenic label or all natural. We love using our all natural soap to wash our clothes from Walmart!

There are lots of options to avoid allergens. Buying products with a short ingredient list will help majorly!

Having a healthy home is a safe home. It’s the place you want to be in, not the place you want to leave.

Did you resonate with any of my favorite ways in making a healthy home? If you have any other ideas, put it in the comment section below! We all can use ideas on how to best stay healthy, especially in crazy times like these.

Social distance, and stay safe out there friends!

All my love,

Talesha
