Posing Mistakes That Can Be Easily Fixed

How much do you stress over the “perfect angle, pose and outfit”? For me, it’s way more often than I’d like to admit. Posing and angles are so much harder than you’d think. Too high, you look like an alien, too low and it can be unflattering. It’s a struggle that can be easily avoided. And I will share with you my favorite tips and tricks!

This one is showing how important it is to have soft fingers around your face. Your goal is not to claw your face off, but to lightly touch it. Also, fists make a pose more harsh and should definitely be avoided.

Photo tip, try creating as many triangles as you can in a photo. The eye naturally is drawn to triangles. However, be soft about it, and don’t pose as a brick wall. By putting one foot behind it naturally pops the hip and gives more shape.

Have fun in your photo! Pretend you’re playing with your hair and pop that elbow out! If you notice too, this photo is creating a triangle! Remember to have soft fingers and hand while you pretend to play with your hair. When I do this, I like to softly move my fingers so I avoid robot hand as much as possible!

Which one of these poses is your favorite? They are both flattering but I definitely like one better. Can you guess which one? Yes! The one on the right. By popping your outer hip and bending the knee closest to the camera you appear slimmer. I also love how that post looks curvy and slim! Also the fingers in this are soft, which as you know is important.

Can you pick out which one is the winner before noticing the X and checkmark? By placing your arm and hand out, it frames your body. Keeping them hidden appears harsh in the photo. I love in the right photo how her hand is down but her pointer finger is also separated. It gives a feminine look that’s slimming and shapes the body line.

I love this photo tip! I use it in so many selfies and it always looks flawless. Put one foot out front! This elongates the body and makes you look so skinny. You can also place a hand on your hip to showcase your curves. Play around with this one and have fun!

Create movement in your pose! I cannot stress this enough. Look how boring the photo is on the left. Soft fingers around your face and popped hip. This person looks so slim and curvy at the same time!

End discussion!

Modeling and posing can be so simple with the proper education and plenty of practice. It’s taken me a few years to really get it down and notice the mistakes others are making in their posing.

I think the most important thing is to have fun with it! Get some movement in your hair, and body. You may end up with a million photos but you’re bound to get a few winners!

Also pick flattering lighting that will not be too harsh on shadows. Usually golden hour, or an hour before sunset is the perfect lighting. Put your hand on your hip, soft fingers, leg propped in front of you, hip popped, lean a little into the camera, and good posture. These are all excellent ways to take your photos to the next level.

What was your favorite tip to learn? I love learning new posing techniques and spicing up my regular poses.

Have fun and expirement away!

All my love,

Talesha
