It’s been a crazy week for the world. As tensions rise and people fight to have their voice heard. Amidst the trials there is goodness. I think it’s important to remember that hardships will pass and the good will always outweigh the bad.
This past week has been extremely difficult for me as I navigated the emotions of two funerals. My husband’s cousin tragically passed away in a car accident at age 32. Her husband and two boys are left to pick of the pieces of their broken heart as they move forward without her.
The second funeral for a girl I used to coach. She was only 13 and lost her life tragically as well. As my old team members and I lined the streets her loved ones would drive, my heart sank. How could someone so young lose her life when I still live mine?
I cried as I held my old teammate as she sobbed and thanked us for taking a final knee for her niece. I can’t even fathom the sadness, anger, and deep rooted grief those around me are feeling.
Everyday is truly a blessing and one to not take for granted.
As we move forward in the next week, take these inspiring messages with you.
“I am learning everyday to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terriy me.” -Tracee Ellis Ross
“A year ago, you did not know today, you did not know how you’d make it here. But you made it here. By grace, you made it here.” -Morgan Harper Nichols
“Let this be the year. Let this be the year you go after courage. For years, your heart desires it, but worry held you back. You allowed yourself to end it at that. But after all this time, let this be your year. Let this be the year you take those deeper breaths, with eyes wide open, say yes, running with total abandon in the direction of the courage you have longed to find for years. Go after it on the mountain. Go after it in the valley. Go after in in the silence between the words in your lat night prayers. Go after courage everywhere, for whatever you pursue, God will be there. Ever-loving, ever-guiding, He will bring you out of hiding, dispelling every fear, giving courage, giving strength. Let this be the year.” -Morgan Harper Nichols
“How could you think you are weak. When everytime you break, you come back stronger than before.” -R.m. Drake
“Be the kind of person that makes other people want to up their game.” -Unknown
“No matter how heavy the memories fall upon your heart, no matter what has come together or what was torn apart, there is still a reason you made it this far, and how, after everything that happened you are blooming as you are.” -Morgan Harper Nichols
“Note to self: You gotta do this for you. This is for you. This isn’t about anybody. Live for you. Honor you. Never lose sight of that.” -Unknown
“In order to love who you are, you cannot hate the experiences that shaped you.” -Homebody club
“Don’t adapt to the energy in the room. Influencer the energy in the room.” -Unknown

“This letter is to you. The you that’s had a rough week. The you that seems to be under constant storm clouds. The you that feels invisible. The you that doesnt know how much longer you can hold on. The you that has lost faith. The you that always blames yourself for everything that goes wrong. To you.
You are incredible. You make this world a little bit more wonderful. You have so much potential and so many things left to do. You have time. Better things are coming your way, so please hang in there. You can do it.” -Unknown
“Show up. Be brave. Be daring. Be full of light. Be honest. Be open. Be human. Make mistakes. Make love. Make friends. Make amends. Make due. Make yourself happy. Make a difference. Show up.” -Alex Elle
This week move into it knowing you are strong. You are kind, compassionate, a fighter, a lover, a hard working individual with so much to give the world.
Don’t let anybody bring you down. Stand up and use your voice to let the world know how you feel. Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.
All my love to you as you continue the good fight.
