High school was so much fun for me. I was lucky enough to experience so many different things and meet lots of fun people. I had a philosophy in school to be friends with everyone.
I knew a lot of people who only hung out with the “cool” kids, and I knew I never wanted to be that person. This gave me lots of new opportunities and lots of friends in different groups.
In high school I joined the dance team and did it for the remainder of my schooling. I loved it! Dance was my release from stress. My one thing I could focus on for me, just me and nobody else.
One of my favorite memories was one night late around 8pm. My best friend and I went down to the local dam and saw a car with lights on in the back. I instantly knew what was going on in the car and conceived a plan.
We walked down close to the car making sure we weren’t seen. As soon as we were close enough I yelled out “ow, ow, get it ooooonnnn!” a few times. As soon as they realized what was going on, the lights turned off and they bolted to the front seats.
In that same moment they turned the car on and my friend and I bolted! We ran up the hill so fast and hid in some tall weeds so we weren’t seen. I don’t know why I thought they might hurt me if they saw me again and I wasn’t going to take that risk.
I still laugh about it to this day with my best friend.
Favorite memory number 2 is Moon Shiver. Moon shiver was a film event our school put on. We got to dress up in fancy dresses and watch others films. Only 20 were chosen out of the whole school.
My film group and I were one of the ones chosen. Looking back I’m not sure how we were chosen, but I’m happy for the memory. I remember being so nervous to have the whole school see my terrible acting. I sat in my fancy dress in a seat next to my dad as my face was on a big screen.
This was the moment I knew I never cared to pursue acting. I had no talent, but there I was, on a screen for the whole school to watch.
My senior year of high school I was apart of Yearbook club. It was so much fun! It was fun because I got to do something different. Something I had never done before with a different group of people.
Because I was in yearbook, I was able to put cute pictures of me in the yearbook. Instead of ugly ones I was horrified finding the end of the year. I loved walking around taking pictures of memories I wanted to always remember.
Another memory I love is my first summer job. I got this summer job with all of my friends. Making my favorite thing in the world, snowcones. Having a low stress job with all of your friends is something I highly recommend.
At one point a customer ordered the largest size we made. It was ginormous! I’d never made it up until this point and was so excited to make a monster snowcone. Imagine a football and a half, that’s about how big it was.
Of course I had to take a picture to remember the glorious moment. To this day I can look at that photo and be taken back right to that moment.
I’m sure we all remember our first love. High school was when I experienced mine and those are some of my favorite memories. The firsts you get to do with someone you love everything about.
Your first love is thrilling. Football games with the, introducing them to your friends, posting your first pic together on social media. It was all so fun.
I remember driving down the road in his truck sitting as close to him as I could. We blasted country music as we sang our hearts out. I felt so much love for him that I have never forgotten that memory.
What are some of your favorite high school memories? I’d love to know!
High school is an adventure, and at times miserable, but others so much fun. It shaped me into who I am today. Gave me friends to last a lifetime and memories to make me smile years later.

Stay safe out there.
