Eating healthy can be very expensive. Especially if you’re buying organic.
However, it doesn’t have to be expensive. There are some tips and tricks to eating healthy on a budget.
Here are my top tips on how to eat healthy on a budget:
Meal plan. Map out your weekly meals and stick to it. A huge way to keep a budget while shopping is to write down everything you need for your meals and only buy those things. When you get to the grocery store you tend to wander and start seeing all the other fun things you can buy. Having a meal plan and a list helps you keep on your budget.
Cook meals at home! Eating at home not only is cheaper, but you also have leftovers! Which means you don’t have to buy lunch the next day at work.
No grocery store shopping while you’re hungry. I’m sure you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s impossible for me to shop when I’m hungry. Everything I see becomes the next thing I have to buy. So next time you go grocery shopping make sure it’s on a full stomach.
Understand that junk food will not get you what you want. Don’t buy unnecessary junk food. Junk food will quickly add up and soon you’ll be over budget and can’t buy the items that are healthy for your body and mind.
Take advantage of coupons. Have you ever watched extreme couponer? It’s so cool to watch how they get 50 items for $5. But, the cool thing is, you don’t have to be an extreme couponer to still save money. When your local paper comes out, take advantage of all the coupons packed inside!
Eating healthy on a budget isn’t always easy. You have to try a little harder to find sales and even harder to avoid the processed foods in the meantime.
When you finally stick to it, your mind won’t be foggy and you’ll be ready to go in the mornings. You’re mind and your body will thank you.
I know because I’ve experienced both. So stock up on the fruit and veggies. Bring carrots to work, and substitute some carbs for veggies.
You’ll be refreshed and loving the positive effects.
All my love,
