What Is Gut Health Pt. 1

What is gt health? Gut health is the balance of microorganisms that live in our digestive tract. They look after the health of the gut and help maintain a perfect balance of these microorganisms. This is an important part of our physical, mental and immune system.

There are around 100 trillion of these bacteria. They are also called gut flora.

Here are three ways to improve gut flora and increase overall health.

1- Eat prebiotic fiber. Probiotics eat nondigestible carbs called prebiotics. This helps the bacteria multiply in the gut.

By eating foods that contain more prebiotic-rich foods it can help enhance gut health.

  • bananas
  • asparagus
  • onions
  • whole grains
  • garlic
  • artichoke

2- Eat fermented foods and take probiotics. A way to help boost helpful bacteria in the gut, some people choose to take probiotics supplements.

By taking probiotics, it helps keep your gut microbiome that can prevent inflammation. fermented foods are a natural source of probiotics.

By eating these foods regularly your gut health can improve.

  • kefir
  • fermented veggies
  • kombucha
  • sauerkraut
  • kimchi
  • tempeh

3- Eat Less sugar

Eating an excess of sugar may cause an imbalance of gut bacteria. Using artificial sweeteners can negatively impact glucose levels in the gut. Artificial sweeteners may increase blood sugar even though it’s not real sugar.

Maintaining a healthy gut helps have a better immune system and overall health. By eating a healthy diet and maintaining a healthy lifestyle you can increase the number of healthy micromes in your gut.

Come back next week for part two.
