Motivation Mondays: Week 13

fail

We live in a world where we must always do and be better. We need to have a beautiful home, newest cars, phones and fancy things. Our clothing, hair and makeup should always be top notch, because we need to present ourselves as the best.  Eating anything with sugar, chemicals and from a box should be forbidden and if you don’t you’re forever ruining your health.

There are plenty of scenarios I can give you, we all have pressures and demands that we feel we aren’t living up to. Insert feelings of FAILURE.

I have been contemplating this last week how to deal with the feelings of failure I have as well as the clients I help. Failure is a very real, limiting belief. It stops potential growth and inhibits the direction we can receive from our higher power.

Every single person has a desire to succeed, even if they never show or vocalize it. It is an inherent quality. We want to create, change and lift ourselves and others out of darkness. However, those feelings of failure creep up and do one of two things. They either prevent us from what we want or give us more determination to never stop.

I recently did an online energy healing class in Logan, Utah. It was the first time I had done one and I was excited to reach more people. I couldn’t wait to share my experience of growth through Reiki and how it would help those who watched. It was brutal to wait a week to teach.

I had all these great ideas, stories and thoughts to share. I pictured these great discussions I would lead and how it would be a great success.

And…. I maybe shared 1/3 of the ideas I had. I walked upstairs feeling a heavy weight. I felt like I had failed everyone and myself.  Technology was not my friend, I couldn’t hear questions/comments and background noise was heavy. I was so bummed that this great idea I had didn’t come out the way I pictured it to.

This lead me to think, ask questions and get rid of the negative self-talk. I felt prompted to ask others how they handle these feelings and I had some great responses.

We need to be able to set aside all the reasons, excuses and fears as to why we can’t be successful and start doing things that allow us to be who we wish to become.

Here are 5 tips to let go of failure

1- Find joy in your day.
-Think about a child. They are so excited over things that we may not understand. My son was thrilled to find an old screw buried in the ground. He talked about it for days.

2-Do one thing on your to-do list.
-The key here is to actually finish it. One idea I like to do is make my bed. Boom! I’ve accomplished one thing so therefore my day was not a failure.

3- Change perspective.
-If you look at failure as an ending it will be an ending.  J.K Rowling was told no by 12 publishers before Harry Potter was given a chance. Even then she was told to get a day job. Look at the perceived failure as an opportunity to try something new and learn as you go.

4-Have a reset button.
-Recognize that you are going in a downward spiral of feeling negative and hit that button. Stop the negative thoughts that are coming and do something different that makes you feel good.

5-Reflection.
-Think about there area/s you want to change and visualize yourself doing it. Get creative with this step and engage all your senses.

Bonus tip- Give service.
-Share your gifts, talents, and love with others. You will see that it is not about you, but others and our connection to them that truly matters. “I shall give love to those in need; I’ll show that love by word and deed; Thus shall my thanks be thanks indeed.” -Hymn, Because I Have Been Given Much

Special thanks to my awesome readers who let me in on their secrets to let go of failure.

With Love,

Talesha
