Similarities and Differences Between Emotional Healing & Therapy

Talesha, “What is emotional healing?” Pull up a chair and get comfy. Every single person has emotional baggage, it will prevent you from progressing in life. Emotional healing releases those blocks that keep you trapped in habits and thinking patterns that do not bring you happiness. Emotional healing allows you to fully handle life’s hardships. Without emotional work, you would be stuck repeating problems and facing challenges until you break the cycle of emotions that caused it.

“OK, that makes sense. So what is therapy then? They sound alike.” Therapy helps you navigate your feelings and take steps to improve them so you can live a full, happy life. Therapists use clinically-proven techniques to set those goals, track the progress made and measure the results. They use clinical techniques that stem from different field of thoughts but that don’t remove an emotion.

“Talesha, I think I can benefit from both. How do I decide which one to do?” Deciding the appropriate means for healing can depend on a lot of things. In my opinion having been training in therapy, attended therapy, and now doing emotional healing. I can say that for myself I have seen way more progress in my thoughts, depression and anxiety than I ever saw in therapy.

In fact, I have clients tell me all the time that one session with me is more supportive than years of therapy has been. One in particular told me she did more work and felt more results in one session than in 10 years of therapy! That’s because we work to remove the emotional pain, not just talk about it over and over.

Are you open to change? Do you see yourself letting go of what is no longer serving you? Would you rather talk through the emotions and learn a step-by-step guide to help assist you, or release all of those emotions for good?

Similarities: Emotional healers and therapists are both passionate about helping others. Each wants to help you overcome challenges, hardships and help you move forward confident and happy. They want to help create a safe environment so you feel comfortable releasing stresses in life. Both care and want to see what’s been burdening you, no longer an issue. No longer controlling your life.

Differences:

Emotional healing: Emotional healing focuses on releasing the burden, stresses, and painful wounds. With emotional healing, you don’t have to know all the answers. Such as why you feel that way, how long you’ve felt that way and when it all started. As long as you know what’s bothering you, then those emotions can be released.

As an emotional healer, when a client comes in with a burden that they continue to carry with them from years earlier; I ask them what that burden is and I help them release it. The goal is to release negative emotions so they never return.

Therapy: Therapy works on talking the hardships in life through. Finding a way to handle them the next time it arrives. Finding solutions on how to handle them. They do this by creating action steps to take, but not actually releasing the negative emotions. This can cause the cycle to continue repeating.

You will learn how to continue to carry that burden and work through it when it shows it’s ugly face again. Therapy teaches you skills to overcome traumas. Therapists may recommend medication, yoga, time spent with loved ones, or even journaling.

Sometimes both fields of thought are beneficial. Keep your mind open, and explore what works best for you.
