I took my handsome little man on a bike ride recently. He was excited to get out of our little neighborhood to ride his bike and show me all the tricks he had been working on. I jogged next to him to make sure he didn’t fall into the river or bushes.
I noticed I had to remind him many times to keep his gaze forward to help him stay balanced. Then a light bulb moment happened for me. Every time he shifted his gaze sideways he stumbled and fell but the times he looked forward he never wobbled.
In life we are given many trials. Some are because of our own choices and others are to help us grow and become more compassionate individuals. When we are facing our uphill battles it is easy to complain or shift blame on to other people. (Lets call this looking sideways.) We then begin to fall and continue in our battle rather than progressing out of it.
However, when we keep our gaze forward on our creator we know that we have purpose and can overcome all things.
My message for you today is to keep your gaze forward, you may still stumble but you will never fall. Keep looking for the joy that surrounds you everyday. I promise it is there. You are of value no matter your uphill battle. And remember “We’re more likely to stumble when we look sideways.”
With Love,
