How To Eat Clean For A Stroger Mental Health

Eating healthy is so hard. Not only is it cutting out sugar, but dairy, wheat, carbonation and processed foods too. Healthy eating is a huge commitment. However, looking at it as a lifelong commitment makes it harder to accomplish. Try taking it day by day each meal at a time. You will feel so much better mentally, physically and emotionally.

Cut out wheat: Wheat has a protein in it called, gluten. Gluten can affect you by causing bloating, constipation and fatigue. As well as, malnutrition, memory loss, and celiac disease.

Eat fermented foods: Add into your daily nutrition fermented foods. Sauerkraut is an amazing one to add as a side, or on top of anything you eat. Kombucha or Kefir is good to replace your soda. When introducing in fermented drinks, take a little at a time so your body can adjust to it. Ferments heal your gut by bringing in good bacteria. It may take time to notice the difference, patience is key.

Eat fatty fish: It is rich in omega 3 and fatty acids. Fish reduces inflammation and can lower the risk of cancer and arthritis. Doctors suggest eating fish 3 times a week, but the more the merrier.

Drink lots of water: You’ve most likely been hearing it your whole life. DRINK MORE WATER! But it’s true, the benefits of drinking more water daily will shock you. Your energy will increase, prevents and treats headaches, and helps your brain function. As well as so much more.

Eat fruits and veggies: Eating more fruits and veggies may protect against certain cancers. If this is something you feel like you’d like to do, always eat more veggies. Fruit is a good source of sugar, but its still sugar.

Two girls decided to treat their depression and anxiety with food. They ate the “Mediterranean diet” of fruits, veggies and some meats. Nothing processed and all healthy food. By the end of the study, they reported all of their depression and anxiety, gone. They mentioned that instead of focusing on what they couldn’t eat, they focused on how they felt after they ate.

Its a decision that isn’t easy to make. I promise however that by making it you will feel better and stronger every day. Focus one day at a time. One meal at a time. Healthy decisions become easier the more “little” wins you make. By not eating that cookie at lunch, by skipping the soda at dinner.
