Sometimes my life is on autopilot and opening myself up is hard. By opening yourself up, you are also opening yourself up to hurt. That’s the risk in life that I will always be willing to take.
I’ve met so many amazing people because I opened up even when it was hard. So here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about me.
One: I love breakfast! I know, I know, a weird one to start off with, but humor me. A nice crepe breakfast, with strawberries, and a side salad. You have to mix sweets in with a salty food. I can eat breakfast food all day if I wanted to and it wouldn’t bother me one bit. Whats your favorite meal?
Two: I don’t like watching movies. My mom always tells me that as a kid I never sat through a movie. I was always up and moving and bored within minutes. I would much rather watch a short 30 minute tv show and then move on with my life. How do you feel about movies? Love ’em, or hate ’em?
Three: I’ve always loved shelter dogs. I used to volunteer as a kid at the local humane society and loved it so much. I fell in love with a dog there named Fido and quickly made the decision that one day I would adopt. So flash forward ten years, I saw a couple getting rid of their two year old dog and knew she had to be mine.
We drove to get her and on the whole way there I was nervous. But as soon as she was in my arms, I knew this was exactly what was supposed to happen. I only hope I can continue rescuing dogs as I can.
Four: Flying terrifies me! When I tell you its a 10/10 scary for me, it is! I recently flew to North Carolina and the entire flight had to do calming mind exercises. I want to vow to never step foot on another plane again, but also know that’s unlikely. I love traveling, and sometimes, planes are required for that. Do you like flying? I hope I’m not the only one who dreads it.
Five: Half way there! I love, love, love true crime documentaries. They scare me and put thoughts in my head at night right before I fall asleep, but I love them. Specifically ones on murder mysteries or with homicides that have been solved. Love hate relationship, but one I don’t ever see myself breaking. Do you love them as much as I do, or would you rather avoid them all together?
Six: I hate mowing the lawn. Growing up, mowing the lawn was my chore and when I tell you I hated it, I hated it! I remember my dad walking the lawn to see if I missed the tiniest spot and I’d have to go back over it.
When I got married I made sure my husband understood that that was one chore I just wouldn’t do. Even if I had to pay someone, I would. Luckily for me, he loves mowing the lawn and finds it as a natural release for him. Do you like mowing the lawn? Or am I the only one?
Seven: Math has always been very difficult for me. After I graduated from college, I vowed to never take a math class again. It was so difficult I would spend countless nights crying over it. Math made me physically sick. I never was any good at it, even when I studied for hours. I never have taken another math class. Although, with homeschooling two littles, I probably could use a little help.
Eight: I love pushing myself. I definitely fluctuate in motivation, but overall love being healthy. In the gym I’m lifting heavier weights then I was a week previously. I do hard workouts and make sure to not give up. I keep fighting till my workout program is complete. Do you love going to the gym? Or are you more of a work out at home person? I love both options as long as I’m staying fit.
Nine: I’m the oldest child of 4. I have three younger siblings and love them all so much. I would definitely classify myself as the over protective sister. My siblings have two moms, my mom, and me. Anytime one of them went on a date, I made sure they were decent people. And if any of them hurt, I hurt with them. That’s the role of an oldest child, to look over the younger ones. And I did that, still do. Where are you at in your family tree? I love being the oldest in my family!
Ten: I love bugs! As a kid I used to sit outside for hours just watching ants build their homes. Watching bees on flowers and picking up worms off the sidewalk. This continued as I got older and my mom bought me a ladybug habitat. I raised ladybugs for several years and then would release them into my yard. It was my favorite activity. The older I got this love never changed. On my walk to seminary I would pick up all the big earth worms and throw them into the safety of the grass.
It was just too much for me to see them all squished. So one, by one, I saved as many as I could. To this day, I still do this. Even killing fly’s in my home is an impossible task. Instead, I open the door and move them with my hands flying in the air to scare them outside. I feel accomplished every time one leaves willingly and I don’t have to kill it. Do you like bugs as much as I do? From a distance of course.
Tell me some interesting things about you down in the comments below!
All my love,
Talesha
